Russia’s Putin sending first defense attaché to PHL

News

Russian President Vladimir Putin on June 27 signed an order to send Russia’s first designated defense attaché to the Philippines, the Russian Embassy in Philippines said.

This move comes as Russia and Philippines are strengthening military and technical cooperation.

In message by Russian Embassy’s press attaché Natalia Naumova to PNA, the Russian government is yet to name the defense attaché. “It was the principal decision to establish such position at the Embassy, will start working on it now as we have the frameworks,” she said.

Putin’s order establishing the said position came after Philippines sent its first defense attaché to Russia in May 2018.

Colonel Dennis Pastor was designated as the first Philippine defense attaché to Russia with Technical Sergeant Pablito Igne as his administrative assistant.

Philippines’ defense attaché will play an important role in continuing efforts to intensify defense, security and military cooperation between the Philippines and Russia.
