Marine reservist Speaker Alvarez now eligible for full colonel promotion

Speaker of the House of Representatives 1st District of Davao del Norte Representative Pantaleon Alvarez, a Marine reservist, is now qualified to be promoted as full colonel. He is currently a lieutenant colonel (LTC) in the Philippine Marine Corps reserve force.

This is after Speaker Alvarez completed the Command and General Staff Course (CGSC).

The House of Representatives chief together with other reserve lieutenant colonels House Majority Floor Leader Rodolfo Fariñas JAGS(Res), Third District of the Province of Cebu Representative Gwendolyn Garcia PA(Res), First District of Maguindanao Representative Bai Sandra Sema PA(Res), Fifth District of the Province of Cavite Representative Roy Loyola PA(Res), and Second District of Davao Oriental Representative Joel Mayo Almario PAF(Res) were all part of CGSC Class ‘62.

The Pinning and Graduation Ceremony for the said CGSC batch was held on February 6 at the Social Hall, Office of the Speaker, House of Representatives.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff General Rey Leonardo Guerrero led the pinning of General Staff Course (GSC) Badge to the said officials.

“The CGSC is a required course for active and reserve officers with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to become eligible for promotion to the next higher rank or Colonel,” the AFP said.
