Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that according to Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. a protest regarding Chinese vessels sighted near Pag-asa Island in West Philippine Sea is “on the way”.

“Tinanong ko si Secretary Locsin, ‘nung maghiwalay kami kagabi, sabi ko: Nagfile ka na ba ng diplomatic protest? Oo marami na akong finile. Sabi ko: ‘Yung sa vessel? Ah on the way,” Secretary Panelo said during April 2 press conference.

When asked if the protest is already filed, Panelo said “kung pinadala niya ‘yun kahapon, siguro dumating na ‘yung kagabi.”

In a follow up question, the presidential spokesperson was asked if the government will tell China to pull out vessels considered by the Philippine military as militia.

“Nagrereklamo na nga tayo na bakit kayo nandiyan, o ‘di effectively pinaaalis mo na ‘yun,” Panelo said. “We already filed a note verbale on that, we are against it.”
