President, Vice President to be elected as team in proposed Federal Constitution

In the draft Federal Constitution formulated by Consultative Committee (ConCom) formed by President Rodrigo Duterte, the President and the Vice President will be elected as a team.

“A vote for the presidential candidate shall be counted as a vote for his vice presidential candidate,” says in ARTICLE VIII SECTION 4 (c) of ConCom’s draft Federal Constitution.

Moreover, the President and Vice President will be serving for 4-year term which starts noon of June 30th after election day and will be eligible for re-election to one term.

Both should be natural-born citizens of the Philippines, a registered voters, holders of a college degree or its equivalent and on the day of the election, at least forty (40) years of age, and domiciled in the Philippines for at least ten (10) years immediately preceding such election.

The draft constitution also includes provision giving the Vice President a Cabinet position that does not require confirmation.
