President Rodrigo Roa Duterte conferred the Order of Sikatuna to United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim at the Malago Clubhouse in Malacañang on September 7, 2020.
Ambassador Kim paid a farewell call on President Duterte.
“On November 3, 2016, Ambassador Sung Kim was sworn in as the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, and started this important posting on December 1, 2016,” the US Embassy said.
In July 2019, the White House announced that he will be appointed to be Ambassador to Indonesia. His nomination was confirmed August 6, 2020.
“From 2011 to 2014, he was the U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Korea. In between the two ambassadorships, Ambassador Kim served as Special Representative for North Korea Policy in Washington,” the US Embassy said.
