PO1 relieved from post after slapping bus driver

News

A Police Officer 1 (PO1) was relieved from his post at Police Community Precinct 1 of the Parañaque City Police Station and was transferred to National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Regional Headquarters Support Group after his involvement in a slapping incident with a public utility bus (PUB) driver on July 25 in Baclaran.

The incident was caught on video and was uploaded in Facebook.

In the video, PO1 Edmar Costo was seen slapping PUB driver Joel Mametis twice.

According to Costo, he boarded the bus to issue a traffic violation ticket.

Costo said Mametis initially refused to provide his driver’s license. He added that when Mametis provided his driver’s license it was attached with 100 peso bill as bribe.

Costo said he slapped the driver with the bribe money.

The Southern Police District (SPD) is now looking for Mametis to file simple misconduct and slight physical injury complaints against Costo.
