PNP will arrest government employees playing in casinos

The Philippine National Police (PNP) was ordered to arrest government officials who will try to enter and play casinos, PNP Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa said during the ceremonial posting of warning signage prohibiting government employees.

“Hindi naman malala ang problema sa gambling but the President wanted to fulfill his promise to fight corruption. ‘Yung gambling is associated with corruption,” dela Rosa said during the event, as quoted by ABS-CBN News Online.

“Bawal sila sa gambling area. Sa mga restaurants, okay lang – hindi kasama ang sabungan, casino lang,” he added.

President Rodrigo Duterte said he issued the directive to dela Rosa evening of January 17 to strictly prohibit all government workers from entering casinos.

“Sabi ko: Bato, halika. Maglagay ka sa casino prohibiting all workers of government from entering,” Duterte said at the launching of the Overseas Filipino Bank on January 18.

“May PD (Presidential Decree) niyan eh. There’s a law. At that time, it was a law. It’s still the law. It was never modified or repealed. Sabi pa ni Bato: Lagay mo diyan all government employees,” Duterte added.
