Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Director General Oscar Albayalde together with Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff General Carlito Galvez, Jr. visited the wake of six policemen who were killed in misencounter with elements of Philippine Army 87th Infantry Battalion on June 25 in Samar.
Police Director General Albayalde also visited the cops who were wounded in the said encounter admitted at Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center. The PNP chief awarded them medals and financial assistance.
Affected policemen are part of 1st Platoon, 805th Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 8 of the PNP.
Albayalde said that the PNP will temporarily halt its campaign against armed communists.
“It’s only temporary as we figure out the lapses. After finding out the problems and lapses, we will correct them and operate again,” Albayalde told reporters after his visit to wounded cops.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of National Defense (DND) are conducting joint inquiry regarding the said misencounter.
