PNP acquires light machine guns from Israel

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has received 78 units of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Negev 5.56×45mm NATO light machine gun as part of newly acquired PHP 784 million worth of police equipment that were blessed today, August 8 at the PNP Heritage Park, Camp Rafael T Crame, Quezon City.

Also received were 95 units 4×4 utility vehicles for mobility, 10,000 units Canik 9mm Pistol for newly recruited police officers, 3,684 units Enhanced Combat Helmet, 2,255 units Tactical Vest for Police Mobile Forces, and 568,226 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

PNP Police General Oscar D. Albayalde attended the blessing ceremony of the said equipment acquired under PNP Capability Enhancement Program of 2014 to 2019 and from the General Appropriations Act 2018.

Police Lieutenant General Archie Francisco Gamboa, the chairman of the NHQ Bids and Awards Committee, said the procurement is part of the continuing effort of the PNP leadership and the national government to enhance the firepower, mobility, communication,and investigative capabilities of PNP operating units.
