The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is moving forward with its plan to arm some of its assets with remote controlled weapon stations (RCWS).

MaxDefense Philippines said it “received confirmation that the plan to arm some of Philippine Coast Guard’s newer assets with remote controlled weapon stations (RCWS) is indeed proceeding, with certain manufacturers already inspecting the ship classes the PCG plans to have them installed.”

Assets being eyed to be installed with RCWS are 56-meter San Juan-class, 44-meter Parola-class, 35-meter Ilocos Norte-class, and 24-meter Boracay-class.

“There are also plans to arm future PCG ships with RCWS small-caliber RCWS for defensive and law enforcement purposes,” MaxDefense said.
