Pioneer crew of future BRP Antonio Luna set for training with Hyundai Heavy Industries

The Philippine Fleet said that the pioneering crew of future BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) paid a courtesy call to Philippine Fleet commander Rear Admiral Loumer P. Bernabe at Headquarters Philippine Fleet, Naval Base Heracleo Alano on August 13, 2020.

The pioneering crew is headed by its skipper Captain Charles Meric A. Villanueva.

“Said crew is scheduled for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training facilitated by Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) at South Korea starting Monday, Aug 17, 2020,” the Philippine Fleet.

It noted that the training include operation and maintenance of different systems aboardship such as Fire Control, Weapons, and Engineering.

“Moreover, some personnel is also scheduled to attend courses such as Combat Information Center, Tactical Air Control, and Signal Intelligence at the Defense Conseil International in Toulon, France starting next month,” the Philippine Fleet added.

“These trainings are conducted to ensure the crew of BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) are well equipped with the skills and knowledge that they need in operating the newest vessel of the Philippine Navy which is scheduled to arrive from South Korea in the 1st Quarter of 2021,” it explained.
