The Philippines has sent its first defense attaché in over forty years of diplomatic relations with Russia.
Philippine Ambassador to Russia Carlos Sorreta confirmed the arrival of the defense attaché, Colonel Dennis Pastor to Philippines Embassy in Moscow.
“We would like to welcome Col. Dennis Pastor, the first Philippine Defense Attache to Russia and TSg. Pablito Igne, his Administrative Assistant,” Ambassador Sorreta said. He added that Pastor and Igne went straight to work on May 3.
“This is the first time in over forty years of relations with Russia that the Philippines has assigned a Defense Attache,” Sorreta said.
The Filipino ambassador noted that the assignment is another milestone in Philippines’ relations with Russia. “He will play an important role in our continuing efforts to intensify defense, security and military cooperation between the Philippines and Russia,” he said.
