PHL’s anti-submarine helicopters undergoing test flights

The Philippine Navy is conducting test flights for its two new AW-159 “Wildcat” anti-submarine warfare helicopters prior to their scheduled entry to service on May 27 during the 121st founding anniversary celebration of Philippine Navy.

“The AW-159 has just started initial test flight in the Philippines as part of the manufacturer’s trial. It is still scheduled for a series of test flights before scheduling its handover to the Philippine Navy. The test flight signals the completion of the unit before the acceptance,” Pinoy Aviators said in its social networking page.

These helicopters were ordered from Leonardo, formerly AgustaWestland, and were transported by an Antonov An-124 Ruslan strategic airlift quadjet to Philippines on May 7.
