PHL warship sent to attend international exercise in Indonesia

The Philippine Navy, led by Chief of the Navy Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad sent off BRP Gregorio Del Pilar (FF15) for the 3rd Multilateral Naval Exercise codenamed KOMODO (MNEK) 2018 in Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.

MNEK 2018 will be held on May 4 to 9 to be participated by other navies including China, United States, Russia, France, and United Kingdom.

“This is the first International Defense and Security Engagement (IDSE) to be participated by the PN this year. The PN contingent is expected to arrive at the Port of Lembar in Indonesia on the 4th of May,” the Philippine Navy said.

“Considering its unique, beautiful landscape and culture, this place will surely give another spectacular experience while conducting exercise on the theme “cooperation to respond to disaster and humanitarian issues,” Chief of the Indonesian Navy Admiral Ade Supandi said.

“In the previous exercises, representatives from regional navies involved in several activities through harbor and sea phase, Admiral Inspection, ENCAP and MEDCAP. I am looking forward to seeing more, better activities for this year exercise to enhance awareness and readiness in responding to any challages of disaster and humanitarian issues,” Admiral Supandi said.
