PHL state-run aerospace firm now under defense department

The Philippine Aerospace Development Corporation (PADC) is now under the Department of National Defense (DND) as per Executive Order No. 78 signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on March 15.

“The PADC is hereby transferred to and placed under the administrative supervision of the DND,” President Duterte said in the order.

He said the transfer of supervision is to ensure the attainment of objectives of the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) 2017-2022 and maximize the national utility of the aviation and aerospace industry.

The policies, programs, and activities of PADC will now be coordinated with the DND.

The President noted in the order that the aerospace sector is one of the industry priorities under the government’s plan.

“There is a need to address emerging internal and external threats, achieve self-reliance as regards defense equipment, and promote the transfer of technology from neighboring countries,”  the President also said in the order.
