The Philippine Navy will be sending off its Bacolod City-class logistics support vessel BRP Dagupan City (LS-551) on October 17 for the first of its kind People’s Republic of China and ASEAN members states maritime exercise on October 21 to 28 in Zhanjiang, China.
The send off event will be held around 7:30 am at Captain Salvo Pier, Naval Base, Cavite City.
BRP Dagupan City will be manned by 300-man Philippine Navy contingent.
The ASEAN-China naval drills, ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise (ACMEX) 2018, will be hosted by the Republic of Singapore Navy and China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) Navy.
ACMEX 2018 aims to provide military exchanges between ASEAN member states navies and their Chinese counterpart, focusing on maritime safety, search-and-rescue at sea with emphasis on the use of Code of Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES).
