PHL sending Del Pilar-class ship for first US-ASEAN maritime exercise

The Philippine Navy will be sending a Del Pilar-class offshore patrol vessel to participate in the joint maritime exercise dubbed as the first between ASEAN nations and United States.

The said five-day naval exercise will start on September 2.

According to report by Bangkok Post, eight ships and two aircraft will participate in the exercise.

According to Philippine Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad, as quoted by Inquirer.net, the exercise is expected “to focus on interoperability while addressing common maritime security concerns and humanitarian assistance and disaster response.”
