“The two chiefs of navies held their meeting at the Russian Naval Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia highlighting the Philippine Navy’s visit and participation to the Russian Navy Day Celebration,” the Navy said.

The Navy chief was accompanied by Naval Reserve Command commander Maj. Gen. Dante Hidalgo and staffs for Plans and Programs, and Reserve Force Development of Philippine Navy headquarters.

Admiral Yevmenov conveyed his appreciation for the Philippine Navy’s very first participation in their celebration.

“The Russian Navy Day Celebration was witnessed by delegates of Navies from Vietnam and 26 other countries,” the Navy said.

“Both further acknowledged that relationship are improving. The FOIC then conveyed his invitation to his counterpart to once again visit the Philippines,” The Philippine Navy said.

The Russian Navy Day was highlighted with main naval parade in St. Petersburg and naval parades in different parts of Russia including in Vladivostok where Philippine Navy Tarlac-class landing platform dock BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602) participated.

“The mission to Vladivostok is part of the PNs diplomatic role, as it seeks to establish engagements with other regional navies. This is to contribute to peace and stability in the West Pacific in general and South China Sea in particular,” the Philippine Navy said.
