“US military aircraft Papa 8 Alpha, this is Subi Reef, China has sovereignty over the Nansha (Spratly) Islands and adjacent waters. Leave immediately and keep far off to avoid any misunderstanding,” the Chinese PLA Navy told the US aircraft over radio using a flat tone.
According to US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft pilot, warnings from China are routine occurrence and do not affect US Navy operations.
While on patrol, the US Navy P-8A Poseidon aircraft also overheard a warning directed to Philippine military aircraft.
As shown in the video, Chinese PLA Navy’s warning to Philippine military, most probably not the first warning during the patrol mission, was not as polite compared to warning given to US aircraft.
“Philippine military aircraft! I’m warning you again. Leave immediately or you will bear responsibility for all the consequences!” the Chinese side said.
