PHL, Indonesia hold coordinated maritime patrol

Naval units from the Philippine Navy and Indonesian Navy have conducted a coordinated maritime patrol in waters of Republic of the Philippines – Republic of Indonesia (RP-RI) border, Sarangani Island, Davao Occidental on October 8, 2020.

Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) said the coordinated patrol, the 2nd leg of the CORPAT PHILINDO XXXIV-20, aimed at securing border areas between the Philippines and Indonesia from illegal activities, gain knowledge and experience from the sea serials during the coordinated patrol and enhance interoperability.

“Participating ships included the Philippine Navy’s BRP Apolinario Mabini (PS36) and the Indonesian Navy ship KRI Kakap 811,” NFEM said.

“The sea serials conducted were Gun Exercise (GUNNEX); Semaphore Exercise (SEMAPHOREX); Maneuvering Exercise (MANEX), Man Overboard Exercise (MOBEX), and Flag Hoisting Exercise,” it added.
