PHL eyeing to buy 2 more strategic sealift vessels

Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL’s Budiman Saleh said, in report by Detik Finance mid-July, that the Philippines is planning to buy 2 more strategic sealift vessels (SSV)/landing platform docks (LPD).

The Philippine Navy is currently operating two Tarlac-class SSVs/LPDs supplied by PT PAL.

Budiman is hoping that the Philippines will contract PT PAL to supply two more SSVs/LPDs.

However, Budiman said that the Philippines is also looking at shipbuilders from Netherlands and South Korean.

Tarlac-class SSV/LPD BRP Davao del Sur (LD-602) and frigate BRP Andres Bonifacio are currently participating in RIMPAC 2018 in Hawaii.
