The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will be commissioning to Coast Guard service its second Airbus H145 light twin engine helicopter in the coming week.
The commissioning of said helicopter with tail number CGH-1451 will be one of the activities during PCG’s 119th founding anniversary celbration, PCG said.
“Said aerial asset is a four-tonne-class twin engine helicopter equipped with high frequency radios, emergency flotation gear, fast-roping, cargo sling, search light, and electro-optical systems to perform critical missions including search and rescue, medical evacuation, maritime security operations, and maritime law enforcement,” PCG said.
PCG noted that the first H145 helicopter with tail number CGH-1452 commissioned into Coast Guard service on June 18, 2020. It has been deployed in various maritime search and rescue and marine environmental protection initiatives in the past months.
“More importantly, it is one of the most actively utilized PCG asset in transporting PPE sets and medical supplies to far-flung communities amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” PCG said.
