The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has confirmed the arrival of its second of 4 ordered 24-meter Fast Patrol Boat type OCEA FPB72 Mark II from French shipbuilder OCEA.
“The second 24 meter Fast Patrol Boat acquired for the Philippine Coast Guard under the Department of Transportation ” Philippine Ports and Coast Capability Development Project arrived last Monday, September 3, 2018 at the Subic Port, Subic, Zambales,” PCG said.
PCG said that the commissioning of the said patrol boat, to be known as BRP Panglao (2402) in coast guard service, will be on October 17 during the PCG anniversary celebration.
BRP Boracay (2401), which arrived last month, will also be commissioned on that day.
“The patrol boat which runs up to 28 knots will boost the rapid deployment capability of the PCG in enforcing maritime regulations and responding to accidents at sea,” it added.
The final two units of OCEA FPB72 Mark II will be delivered November 2018.
“The third and fourth 24-meter fast patrol boat under the project is scheduled to be delivered in the Philippines on November 2018, while the 82-meter offshore patrol vessel is scheduled to be delivered on August 2019,” PCG said.
