The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has commissioned for service its new H145 light twin engine helicopter procured from Airbus Helicopters.
The commissioning ceremony was held at the Coast Guard Aviation Force (CGAF), Department of Transportation (DOTr) Hangar, Domestic Airport Complex today, June 18.
PCG commandant Vice Admiral George V. Ursabia Jr. led the said commissioning event.
“PCG Commandant, Vice Admiral George V Ursabia Jr graced the simple and private ceremony to commission into Coast Guard service one of the two new airbus helicopters – H145 light twin engine helicopter – from Germany at the Coast Guard Aviation Force (CGAF), Department of Transportation (DOTr) Hangar, Domestic Airport Complex this morning, 18 June 2020,” PCG said.
“Said aerial asset with tail number CGH-1452 is a four-tonne-class twin-engine helicopter equipped with high frequency radios, emergency flotation gear, fast roping, cargo sling, search light, and electro-optical systems to perform critical missions including search and rescue, medical evacuation, maritime patrol, and maritime law enforcement,” PCG said.
“Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, CGH-1452 is utilized in transporting personal protective equipment (PPE) sets and medical supplies in various cities and provinces across the country to support the nationwide battle for public health and safety,” it added.
