The Philippine Navy today sent off its Bacolod City-class logistics support vessel BRP Dagupan City (LS-551) for voyage to Zhanjiang, China. The send off was held at Capt Salvo Pier, Naval Base Cavite, Cavite City.
BRP Dagupan City is expected to arrive in China tentatively on October 20, 2018.
The said ship will participate in the first People’s Republic of China and ASEAN members states maritime exercise, dubbed as ASEAN-China Maritime Exercise (ACMEX) 2018, on October 21 to 28.
Republic of Singapore Navy and China’s People Liberation Army (PLA) Navy will be hosting ACMEX.
ACMEX 2018 aims to provide military exchanges between ASEAN member states navies and their Chinese counterpart, focusing on maritime safety, search-and-rescue at sea with emphasis on the use of Code of Unplanned Encounters at Sea (CUES).
