Philippine Fleet sends off BRP Jose Rizal for deployment


The Philippine Navy’s Philippine Fleet sent off frigate BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) on April 29 for deployment.

BRP Jose Rizal is the lead ship of two Jose Rizal-class frigates constructed by South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI). The frigates are designed for anti-air, anti-surface, anti- submarine, and electronic warfare operations.


FF150 officially entered the Navy service on July 10, 2020 during her commissioning ceremony at Alava Wharf, SBMA, Zambales.

In August 2020, BRP Jose Rizal successfully participated in the international maritime exercise Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2020, held around the islands of Hawaii, also participated by navies from Australia, Brunei, Canada, France, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Singapore and United States.
