The C2 aircraft is based on Airbus C295M twin-turboprop tactical military transport aircraft that PAF is already operating. PAF operates three C295 aircraft as medium lift transports.

In October 2018, the Department of National Defense (DND) awarded a contract worth €28,807,000.00 to Airbus to supply a C2 Fixed-Wing Turbo Prop Aircraft.

PAF is also set to receive a second command & control which is based on Gulfstream G280 jet.
