The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has congratulated its sponsored student Ensign John Manuel B. Ramos for successfully completing his academic and professional training program during a virtual commencement ceremony at United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA) in New London, Connecticut, United States of America (USA) on May 20.
The event was graced by USCG Commandant Admiral Karl Schultz.
PCG said Ramos, who hails from Santa Rosa, Laguna, completed the four-year academic and professional training program as an international cadet at the USCGA.
“Ramos was among the 258 graduates of USCGA Class of 2020, the largest graduating class in the institution’s 144-year history,” PCG said.
PCG said Ramos completed the Operations Research and Computer Analysis (ORCA) as his academic major. ORCA covers background in computer programming and data analysis and utilizing computer algebra system, along with other statistics, forecasting, optimization, and simulation packages.
PCG said the Cadetship Program is a part of the Command’s vision of establishing a first-class Cadet Corps as a precursor to the establishment of the Philippine Coast Guard Academy in the near future.
