PCG patrol vessels hold training off Scarborough Shoal

Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) patrol vessels BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) and BRP Capones (MRRV-4404) conducted a joint training at vicinity waters off Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal) on June 2.

PCG said that personnel of two patrol vessels underwent training on the utilization of semaphore while conducting firefighting exercises.

“Semaphore is a method of visual signaling that uses two short poles with square flags,” PCG said.

“It is commonly used during underway replenishment at sea and in times of emergency to communicate a need for immediate assistance,” it added.
