President Rodrigo Duterte has promoted Philippine Coast Guard commandant Rear Admiral Elson Hermogino to Admiral. The President signed Hermogino’s promotion paper today.
“Pursuant to the provisions of existing laws, you are hereby appointed ADMIRAL (0-10), PHILIPPINE COAST GUARD (PCG), DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (DOTr),” the President said in the promotion paper.
“By virtue thereof, you may qualify and enter upon the performance of the duties of the office, furnishing this Office and the Civil Service Commission with copies of your oaths of office,” he added.
Hermogino was designated to steer the maritime law enforcement organization on January 4, 2018.
According to PCG, Hermogino began his military career on 1981 when he entered the Philippine Military Academy and graduated as a proud member of the prestigious “Sandiwa” Class of 1985.
“Prior to his appointment as the Commandant, Rear Admiral Hermogino became the Station Commander of various PCG stations and eventually became the Commander of Coast Guard districts in Bicol, Northern Mindanao and Southern Tagalog in Batangas and CGDNCR-CL in acting capacity. He was also entrusted with positions and commanded major units of the PCG such as the MEPCOM, Coast Guard Fleet, and Maritime Safety Services Command,” PCG said.
