Pag-asa Island to have concrete airstrip

The Philippines will be able to undertake the repair and concreting of airstrip in Pag-asa Island when the construction of beach ramp and mooring bollard is complete.

National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said at the Pilipinas Conference 2018 on December 7 that as part of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) effort to protect the national territory and uphold sovereignty, the construction of a beaching ramp and mooring bollard in Pag-asa Island was initiated.

“When completed, these will facilitate the transport of materials for repair and concreting of the airstrip,” Secretary Lorenzana said.

“The AFP also facilitated the conduct of the hydrographic reconnaissance and site survey of Mavulis Island for the construction of a fisherman’s shelter,” he said. “It is our northernmost island ans is frequented by fishermen.
