PAF names first female S-70i Black Hawk pilot

The Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing (205THW) has named its first S-70i Black Hawk pilot. The 205THW said that on April 16, Captain Ann Amar-Antenor Cruz was successfully checked out by Lieutenant Colonel Rexzon Pasco as Co-Pilot of the S-70i Black Hawk helicopter.

“During the conduct of the Black Hawk Co-Pilot Qualification Course (CPQC) check ride under Stinger BH #101, she was carefully evaluated as she performed in-ground and in-flight checks, maneuvers, and mountain operations, with high safety standards,” the 205THW said.

“With her exemplary skills, she qualified the standards of a Co-Pilot’s duties and responsibilities, making her the first female Co-Pilot of the S-70i Black Hawk helicopter of the 205th Tactical Helicopter Wing,” it added.

The 205THW noted that Captain Amar-Antenor Cruz ranked second out of the 19 Black Hawk CPQC students during the academic phase to qualify her in the first batch for the local flight training at Clark Air Base, Angeles City, Pampanga.

“As the first checked-out female pilot of the S-70i Black Hawk, she was truly honored for the privilege. This paved the way for other female pilots to look up to her and strive to follow her feat,” it explained. “Today, women can fill the gap in a men-dominated society. It is an eye-opener to all women who doubted doing amazing things. Captain Amar-Antenor Cruz showed that there is nothing impossible for all women who believe they can.”
