The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is getting new equipment and machinery in the near future as part of second phase of military modernization, President Rodrigo Duterte said during the 71st founding anniversary celebration of the PAF at the Multi-Purpose Gymnasium in Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base (CJVAB), Pasay City on July 3.
“The government is currently working on the implementation of the Second Horizon of the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Modernization Program by 2022 with 16 projects for the Philippine Air Force worth over PHP139 Billion already in the pipeline,” President Duterte said.
PAF Commanding General Lieutenant General Galileo Gerard Kintanar, Jr. said that among the assets the Air Force will be getting are unmanned aerial and ground based systems, multi-purpose rotary and fixed-wing assets.
“We are grateful to our President for his strong and unflinching support for the prioritized modernization of our capabilities,” Lieutenant General Kintanar said.
