PAF fighter wing holds 10 Years Flight Accident-Free Celebration

The Philippine Air Force (PAF)’s 5th Fighter Wing conducted Ten Years Flight Accident-Free Celebration at Basa Air Base, Floridablanca, Pampanga on May 14.

PAF Air Defense Command (ADC) commander Major General Connor Anthony D. Canlas Sr. attended the celebration as guest of honor and speaker.

“The first part of the said celebration is the conduct of FOD Walk Down Inspection Competition. The activity was participated by the different Units located inside the Operational Area of the Base. The Unit with the heaviest FODs collected will be the winner of the said competition. Likewise, the 7th Tactical Fighter Squadron was declared as the champion followed by 431st Field Maintenance Squadron then by 542nd Aerodrome Operations Squadron,” PAF 5th Fighter Wing said.

It also noted that Safety Meeting was conducted at the Bay 1 Hangar which was participated by the personnel of Basa Air Base including the deployed personnel at Mactan and Palawan through Video Teleconferencing.

“The third part of the celebration is the blessing of the aircraft and aerodrome facilities including BAB runway. The last part of the celebration is the awarding of 500 Hours Flight Accident-Free patches to the pilots which were received by CPT JOHN RED HONRALES PAF and CPT PHILIP VINCENT ROY FREIRE PAF,” the fighter wing said.

“Likewise, 50,000 km Accident-Free patches were given to the motor vehicle drivers of the Wing which were received by SSg Faizal A Magbanua PAF and A2C Ariel T Turla PAF. Moreover, safety certificates were awarded to all deserving Units of the Wing who exemplified an excellent accomplishment in safety,” it added.
