Philippine Navy Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST), headed by Commodore Sean Anthony Villa, conducted an arrival ceremony for around 20 outgoing military personnel from different detachments in the Kalayaan Island Group (KIG) in West Philippine Sea on June 30.
The arrival ceremony was held on board Philippine Navy offshore patrol vessel BRP Andres Bonifacio (PS-17).
“Appropriate military awards and medals were accorded to the outgoing security personnel, members of NFW Mission Team and PS17 personnel. Commodore Villa gave thanks to the outgoing security personnel for their sacrifices, vigilance and shown devotion to their duties in safeguarding their respective stations in the West Philippine Sea,” NAVFORWEST said.
“The Western Command through NFW continues to perform its mandate of protecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. Thus, it continuously conducts maritime patrols design to protect the maritime domain and to ensure the safety and well-being of marines and sailors stationed in these far-flung detachments and stations,” it added.
