The second phase of AFP Modernization will run through 2018 to 2022.

“The 300-Billion Peso Modernization Program Horizon Two, approved by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte in June 2018, paved the way for continuing the transition from internal security operations to territorial defense as the AFP acquires the military hardware and armaments to strengthen our nation’s defensive capabilities which will be implemented this year until 2022,” the DND said.

The defense chief urged all military and civilian defense personnel to work profissionally and honorably.

“In all our transactions and engagements with our stakeholders, either outside of the AFP or within our own institution, we conduct ourselves within an honorable moral code and high levels of professionalism in managing this trust bestowed on us by our government and our people,” Secretary Lorenzana said during the event.
