NPA abducts 2 soldiers, 12 CAFGU members in Agusan

The NPA has taken hostage two Philippine Army soldiers and 12 members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) in Agusan del Sur.

According to Philippine Army 4th Infantry Division commanding general Major General Ronald Villanueva, around 50 NPA members attacked the New Tubigon Patrol Base in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur at around 3 am.

Two dozens of rifles were also seized by the NPA including seventeen M16 rifles, four M14 rifles, and two R4 assault rifles.

NPA in northeastern Mindanao spokesperson Sandara Amihan also confirmed the abduction. “Fourteen soldiers and militiamen have been captured and are being treated as POWs (prisoners of war). We will treat them accordingly,” Amihan said.

According to military, the 3rd Special Forces Battalion is pursuing the NPA group. Moreover, investigation on the area of incident was launched.
