The Notice of Award (NOA) was already released in favor of Turkish company Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the supply of T129 ATAK attack helicopters for Philippine Air Force (PAF) attack helicopter acquisition project.
According to news report by Inquirer.net, the NOA was issued December 18, 2019 as confirmed by two government officials and National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana.
According to Secretary Lorenzana, with TAI’s offer, PAF can acquire six units, while the offer from United States can only provide PAF with 2 units, with the budget of around PHP13 billion.
In report by CNN Philippines, Secretary Lorenzana said “we appreciate the gesture of the State department but the PAF has already chosen their preferred attack [helicopter].”
Even though a NOA was released, the contract is yet to be signed.
Secretary Lorenzana said the contract with the Turkish supplier “has not been signed as we deal with issues on the contract itself.”
The defense chief noted “until a contract is signed it is not final.”
