Newly activated infantry battalion undergoes training

One of the newly activated battalion of the Philippine Army, 97th Infantry ‘Kalasag Lahi’ Battalion (97IB) which will be operating under the 1st Infantry ‘Tabak’ Division (1ID) is now undergoing organizational training. The training that started on May 3 will run for 45 days.

The training aims to enhance the competence and individual skills of every soldier and also to develop their teamwork as a unit.

1ID covers the area of Zamboanga Peninsula, Lanao Province, and Misamis Occidental.

10ID said the activation of this new battalion aims to augment the units covering the entire Western Mindanao Region in sustaining the gains of Tabak troopers keeping the peace and development in the area of responsibility.

“Always think of the welfare of each and everyone of you so as nobody in your unit will be placed in danger. Also, don’t forget the discipline and the prestige of a real Pilipino soldier,” 1ID commander Major General Roseller G. Murillo said.
