The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) today led the inauguration and commissioning of new Rapid Exit Taxiways (RETs) at runway 06-24 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
“The construction of the East and West Rapid Exit Taxiways were carried out simultaneously and was undertaken with NAIA remaining operational and causing no interruption or danger to airport operations,” said MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal.
“With this new addition, NAIA now has four (4) high speed exits that commercial airlines can use,” DOTr said.
It added that the new RETs will speed up the movement of departing aircraft waiting for clearance to take off. “These will shorten aircraft spacing requirements for air traffic control and will improve runway occupancy time (ROT).”
