New PNR train sets now en route to Philippines

Six new rail cars to form two new Philippine National Railways (PNR) train sets are now en route to Philippines aboard MV Zea Challenger from Surabaya Port, Indonesia.

According to Department of Transportation (DOTr), the rail cars are expected to arrive on December 9.

“Ito’y matapos maisakay sa barkong MV Zea Challenger ang 6 na railcars na siyang bubuo sa dalawang (2) train set na Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU). Ito ay inaasahang darating sa bansa sa ika-9 ng Disyembre 2019,” DOTr said.

“Ang anim na bagong bagon ay bahagi lang ng kabuuang 37 railcars at 3 locomotives na in-order ng PNR mula sa Indonesia,” DOTr added.

The new train sets will ply the Tutuban-FTI and Malabon-FTI routes.

“Mayroon pang natitirang 31 bagon na ide-deliver simula Disyembre 2019 hanggang Pebrero 2020. Bubuo ang mga ito ng karagdagang 7 train sets na mayroong 4-car at 5-car configuration,” DOTr previously said.
