Newly procured equipment for the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Action Force (SAF) were presented today during the ceremonial blessing and opening ceremony of SAF Commando Course Classes 85, 86, 87, 88, 89 & 90-2018.
Among the new equipment are mobility assets, protective gears, firearms and accessories, ammunition, communication system, Explosive and Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and other breaching tools, Search and rescue paraphernalia, General Support Equipment and other special equipment.
“Fraction of the equipment presented were items acquired as part of the unit Capability Enhancement Program for 2017 and 2018 to further capacitate the unit in its mission accomplishment in the areas of counter-terrorism, counterinsurgency, hostage rescue, search and rescue, civil disturbance management and other special police operations,” the PNP said.
Moreover, the new equipment are acquired to arm the additional five SAF battalions ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte to be established to meet the country’s need to address threats to national security on terrorism and insurgency.
Police Director General Oscar Albayalde and PNP-SAF Director Police Director Noli Taliño attended the event.
