Navy vessel rescues 16 passengers of distressed motorbanca

Philippine Navy vessel BRP Enrique Jurado (PC 371), in response to a distress call, conducted search and rescue operations for Motorbanca Raffy B and its passengers in vicinity seawaters of Caluya Island, Antique Saturday night, March 6, 2021, the Naval Force Central (NAVFORCEN) said.

“The motorbanca was found dead on waters 150 yards East off Caluya Island, Antique with 16 personnel onboard,” NAVFORCEN said.

According to NAVFORCEN report, boat captain Arbel Dalisay said the motorbanca encountered problems with her propeller shaft and engine that caused them to be dead on water for more than 3 hours.

“The rescued motorbanca and passengers were turned over to Philippine Coast Guard Boracay for proper disposition. The successful search and rescue operations of PC371 portrays the commitment of the Philippine Navy to act on incidents and emergency situation in our Philippine territorial waters,” NAVFORCEN said.
