The Philippine Navy contingent onboard BRP Davao Del Sur (LD602) accommodated personnel of Republic of Korea (ROK) Navy for a shipboard tour on August 5.
“In the afternoon, after the handover and Commissioning of BRP Conrado Yap (PS39), the Philippine Navy chief, Vice Admiral Robert A Empedrad along with other flag ranks had the opportunity to visit the PN contingent onboard LD602 after its successful participation in the Naval Parade in Vladivostok, Russia and its port visit to ROK,” the Philippine Navy said.
BRP Davao Del Sur arrived in Jinhae Naval Base, South Korea on August 2 and is expected to sail home with BRP Conrado Yap.
“This undertaking highlights the desire of the PN to leverage its capability of becoming stronger and more credible naval force that the Philippines can be proud of,” the Philippine Navy said earlier.
It added that this further underscores the deepening and dynamic relationship between the PN and ROKN that diplomatic clearance for BRP Davao Del Sur to visit Jinhae Naval Base was approved even on such a short notice.
