Navy activates 4th aircraft donated by Japan

The Philippine Navy activated the fourth Beechcraft King Air C-90 aircraft under Naval Air Group (NAG) on March 18.

The newly activated aircraft is part of the five aircraft donated by Japan.

The first and second aircraft were activated November 21, 2017 and March 19, 2018, respectively. The third aircraft was activated in May 2018.

“I believe that having these capabilities give an unparalleled advantage to our decision makers in the frontline. I cannot overemphasize maritime situational awareness as a factor in achieving archipelagic maritime security. Naval air operations have time and again proven to contribute in providing strategic and common operational picture. The range and speed of this C-90 are relatively unprecedented in the PN inventory,” Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief-of-Staff General Benjamin Madrigal Jr. said at the event.

“With the acquisition of C-90 aircraft, we further our defense posture and reinforce our capabilities to address the emerging threat of our maritime domain,” he added.
