Naval forces commander: We did not stop ‘patriotic duty’ in West PHL Sea

The commander of Philippine Navy Naval Forces West (NAVFORWEST), Commodore Rommel Jason L. Galang, has responded to a comment saying that the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is doing nothing when it comes to the protection of West Philippine Sea.

NAVFORWEST is the naval component of AFP Western Command (WESCOM) responsible for combating terrorism and insurgency in Palawan and tasked to protect Philippines’ sovereignty and sovereign rights in the Kalayaan Island Group in West Philippine Sea.

He also noted that the AFP did not stop in doing its “patriotic duty” to sail in the West Philippine Sea and fly the Philippine flag. “Ang bandilang aming ipinagmamalaki sa buong mundo kahit saan man kami mapunta. Maski noon pa mang mga unang panahon, hanggang sa kasalukuyan,” he said.

On February 15, Jose Andrada-class coastal patrol boat BRP Nestor Reinoso (PC380) and two (2) Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) Mark IIIs were deployed NAVFORWEST.
