MRT3-BGC Skytrain monorail construction being eyed to start 2018

The construction of Skytrain monorail from Bonifacio Global City (BGC) to MRT 3 Guadalupe-Makati is being eyed to start later 2018.

“The construction is expected to start later this year. The project will benefit around 60,000 to a 100,000 passengers when completed in 2021,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said during May 29 press briefing in Bontoc, Mountain Province.

“We are pleased to share that the Department of Transportation recently approved the proposal to be submitted to ICC NEDA to build a monorail which will link to Central Business Districts in the City of Makati and Taguig,” Roque said.

The Skytrain monorail project worth P3-billion will utilize the automated cable-propelled monorail technology, and it will reduce travel time from Fort Bonifacio to MRT Guadalupe Makati and vice versa to only five minutes – at no cost to the government.

With DOTr’s endorsement, the proposal will go to the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Board’s Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) for review, then to NEDA Board for final approval.
