The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board has approved the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) 4 Project worth PHP57.07 billion funded through official development assistance (ODA).

On January 29, NEDA said that the MRT 4 Project, along with 7 other projects, was approved. The Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) initially endorsed the project for approval.

“These projects are the building blocks of our people’s dreams and aspirations. As such, we intend to roll out as many as we can to ease congestion and spread growth throughout the country,” Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto M. Pernia said.

NEDA said the project aims to contribute to the reduction of travel time for improved mobility and accessibility between Metro Manila and Rizal Province.

“It involves a 15.56-kilometer (km) elevated monorail transit system beginning at the proposed N. Domingo Station near Granada Street corner N. Domingo in Quezon City, and ending at the proposed Taytay Station near Taytay Diversion Road (R-5) – Manila East Road rotunda in Taytay, Rizal,” NEDA said.

It added that the project will generally run along Ortigas Avenue, Ortigas Avenue Extension, and Taytay Diversion Road, except for a segment between the proposed Meralco and Rosario Stations where the alignment will detour at Frontera Drive, Las Fiestas Road, then C-5 Avenue before returning to Ortigas Avenue Extension.
