The Department of Transportation (DOTr) – Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) today launched the first batch, 15 units, of modern jeepneys under Senate Employees Transport Service Cooperative (SETSCO).
SETSCO will operate the route of StarCity/CCP to PICC, GSIS/Senate to MOA to the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) and back.
DOTr Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Tim Orbos and LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III together with Senate President Vicente Sotto, Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Senator Sherwin Gatchalian were present during the ceremony.
SETSCO is set to add 20 more units of modern jeepneys in July.
According to DOTr, SETSCO is composed of 22 operators headed by its Chairperson Remedios Venturina, and is among the 3 pre-selected cooperatives to participate in the initial implementation of the PUVMP.
Aside from route rationalization, one of the key components of PUVMP is fleet modernization.
Orbos said.
