The Philippine Navy has explained the “swarming tactic” developed utilizing Multi-Purpose Attack Crafts (MPACs). “Numerically superior of fast, agile and missile-equipped MPACs will engage and neutralize targets,” Navy spokesperson Commander Jonathan Zata told PNA explaining “swarming tactic.”
Zata also noted that MPACs can be optimized for hit-and-run raids if needed.
Navy chief Vice Admiral Robert Empedrad previously said that the service needs 42 MPACs.
“Based on our matrix, dapat magkaroon tayo ng 42 of these type of vessels, MPACs,” Vice Admiral Empedrad said.
He noted that the Navy already operates nine MPACs with 3 installed with missile system. He added that next year three more MPACs will be delivered with same missile capability.
“So kung sabay-sabay gumalaw yan, when we are under siege, I think this will do harm to any threat whether internal or external,” Empedrad said.
